Tsinghua Area Studies Forum
The Tsinghua Area Studies Forum is a high-level academic forum dedicated to area studies, which is hosted by the Institute for International and Area Studies, Tsinghua University and is supported by the Beijing Chenxing Education Foundation.
Group photo of 2019 Tsinghua Area Studies ForumThe first Tsinghua Area Studies Forum was held at Tsinghua University from July 10 to 12, 2019. With the theme of “Innovating New Approaches to Common Challenges in Asia, Africa and Latin America”, the Forum brought together over 100 experts in area studies around the world for in-depth cross-regional, interdisciplinary exchanges, covering history, cultures, economy, healthcare, education, environment, politics, and international relations in the Southeast Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, South Asia, Eurasia, Sub-Saharan Africa, West Asia and North Africa.
In the spirit of diversity and openness, the Forum invited numerous experts and received high-quality academic papers. Attendants shared research achievements and insights on the history and prospects of area studies, as well as important issues in each region, which were highly praised by all participants and this helped establish the Forum’s reputation as an important international intellectual platform.
